ABOUT THE ROLE
The Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians to fill this vacant position at Blantyre City Council.

QUALIFICATIONS
👉 Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Business Management, Economics, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, or an equivalent relevant qualification from an accredited and recognized university
👉 Five (5) years' relevant post-qualification working experience in commerce, trade, business development, investment promotion, economic development, marketing, or a related field

DUTIES
The successful candidate will be expected to:
👉 Assist the Director of Commerce in planning, coordinating, and implementing the Council's commercial and trade development programs
👉 Develop and implement strategies for promoting trade, commerce, investment, and business development within the Council's jurisdiction
👉 Coordinate registration, licensing, and monitoring of businesses and commercial activities per applicable laws, policies, and regulations
👉 Monitor commercial activities, markets, and trading premises for compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and Council by-laws
👉 Promote local economic development through support to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), cooperatives, entrepreneurs, and other private-sector actors
👉 Coordinate development and management of markets and other commercial facilities under the Council's jurisdiction
👉 Advise the Council on matters relating to trade, commerce, investment, markets, business development, and local economic development
👉 Monitor revenue collection from commercial activities and Council trading facilities, recommending measures to improve revenue performance
