Senior Fisheries Analyst – Intelligence & Compliance
OceanMind is seeking a Senior Fisheries Analyst to provide senior analytical leadership within its Intelligence & Compliance (I&C) team.

The role combines fisheries intelligence, monitoring, control and surveillance (MCS), remote-sensing technologies, project management, quality assurance and stakeholder engagement to support maritime enforcement and sustainability worldwide.
Job Purpose
The Senior Fisheries Analyst will work alongside other Senior Analysts to provide day-to-day direction to the Intelligence & Compliance team.
The successful candidate will provide training, mentoring and quality assurance while overseeing multiple projects and ensuring intelligence reports, risk assessments and capacity-building programmes are delivered to a high standard and on schedule.
The role will draw on advanced analytical or compliance expertise and practical knowledge of fisheries operations, vessel behaviour, monitoring, control and surveillance, and maritime enforcement.
The postholder will also build relationships with external partners, contribute to new project development and work with technical colleagues to improve OceanMind’s systems and analytical capabilities.
Main Responsibilities
Provide guidance, mentoring and technical expertise to analysts, ensuring intelligence outputs are accurate, timely and consistent.
Lead daily monitoring and advanced analysis of selected maritime areas and fleets.
Produce intelligence reports, risk assessments and compliance recommendations.
Prioritise and escalate emerging maritime and fisheries compliance issues.
Manage multiple projects from scoping, budgeting and proposal development through implementation, quality assurance and reporting.
Manage competing priorities, resources and timelines while delegating effectively.
Implement quality assurance processes across Intelligence & Compliance activities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with governments, NGOs, supply-chain organisations and other stakeholders.
Identify new opportunities and contribute to project scoping and proposal development.
Collaborate with analysts, users, developers and engineers to improve systems, troubleshoot issues and develop new analytical capabilities.
Represent OceanMind at meetings, workshops and conferences.
Support team and partner capacity through training, mentoring, work planning and effective communication.
Identify opportunities to strengthen analytical methodologies, workflows and delivery processes.
Undertake occasional international travel.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should demonstrate:
A fisheries, enforcement or intelligence qualification, and/or substantial relevant experience in fisheries intelligence or MCS.
Knowledge of commercial fishing operations, including practical at-sea experience where applicable.
Understanding of fisheries supply chains, fisheries management tools and compliance issues.
Significant professional experience in fisheries compliance, environmental law enforcement, MCS or a closely related field.
Excellent numerical, data-handling and analytical capabilities, including experience with large datasets.
Experience using and training others in remote-sensing technologies, including satellite radar and electro-optical imagery, together with associated GIS tools.
Demonstrable project management experience covering planning, risk assessment, prioritisation, resourcing, budgeting, delivery and reporting.
Experience developing relationships with governments, NGOs, supply-chain businesses and other organisations.
Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative and remain flexible under pressure.
Experience managing several competing projects simultaneously.
Strong prioritisation, delegation and workload-management skills.
Sound professional judgement and the ability to assess risk and make proportionate decisions using incomplete information. Excellent attention to detail and discretion when handling confidential information.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to non-technical audiences.
Leadership and mentoring capability.
A collaborative, inclusive and proactive approach.
Creative thinking and the ability to develop new processes and applications.
Desirable Criteria
